Call for Expressions of Interest: Editorial Collective for DDGC Blog

The DDGC Blog has been one of the main outlets for discussions, ideas, and insights generated by members of the DDGC Collective. Since its inception in May 2017, the blog has grown in scope and continues to shift to accommodate the needs of the community. In an attempt to expand its reach and also to better account for the various conversations it hopes to stage, the current editors would like to recruit two (2) scholars to join the editorial collective of the blog.

What does the position of editorial collective member entail?
In essence, it means facilitating a venue for scholars and students to share their insights about German studies, its various shapes and permutations, and the many challenges and opportunities it holds for the people it brings together.

The two editorial collective members would work with the blog editors to

  • Solicit submissions that in some fashion align with the DDGC Guiding Principles;

  • Edit submissions by collaborating with authors and extending the care and patience they deserve to get their important ideas out into the world;

  • Plan special projects (e.g., blog series);

  • Expand the blog reach where possible and amend submission guidelines in order to address the needs of various authors;

  • Contribute to the blog occasionally as interest/need arises.

  • Terms will be staggered and run for 1-2 years.

Who would be a great person for this position?
We are eager to work with scholars who care about the work the DDGC collective has done in the first five years of its existence and who care about the collective’s future. We welcome scholars both with existing experience in editing or those interested in gaining experience editing a scholarly outlet. As such, we welcome expressions of interest from scholars whose work aligns with any aspect of German studies at any station of their career (i.e., grad students, contingent faculty, under-/unemployed, TT/T, etc.).

How to express interest in the position.
Send an email in which you outline your interest (and, if applicable, your experience that would support your work) in the position along with a CV to both Regine Criser (rcriser@unca.edu) and Ervin Malakaj (ervin.malakaj@ubc.ca) by January 31. Don’t hesitate to be in touch if you have any other questions about the position or the work of the DDGC Collective.
